To Develop Low Cost, Portable, Easy to Use, 24X7 Battery Operated Vision and Cataract Screening Device.
Abstract:
National Programme for Control of Blindness survey had shown that there is a backlog of over 22 million blind eyes in India and approx. 80% of these are blind due to cataract. The annual incidence of cataract blindness is approx. 10 million. Although cataract is relatively easy, safe and cost efficient treatable, still cataract is the leading cause of blindness and visual impairment in India.
In Rural India due to the absence of ophthalmologist and ophthalmic technician, the provision of eye care is virtually absent. Hence, the promoter has proposed to develop a low-cost AI based Mobile App Cum Screening Device “eNetraCare” to detect Cataract among patients aged 50 years and above, along with online Eye Care Services.
